Hand-painted Talavera tiles are made using a traditional technique (the history of Talavera ceramics) in the town of Dolores Hidalgo in the Guanajuato region of Mexico. Talavera tiles, often also called Majolica, or simply Azulejos in Spanish, are extremely popular not only in Mexico, but also around the world, due to their unique character, design and warm southern colors. Manual painting of tiles and the characteristics of the technique itself mean that the individual colors on the tiles are not uniform (for example, yellow will contain shades from light yellow to orange), the edges are not always of a perfect shape, and thanks to this, the tiles look rustic and original. Each tile is unique! The tiles are resistant to abrasion and even with deeper scratches, the pattern is still visible because the individual colors are included in the glazing. Each tile is first covered with a primer - the base color, and then each pattern color is applied separately. After firing, the tiles obtain their final color and extraordinary resistance.
